Peter and Gail Hutchinson founded PCS in Orange County, California in 1981, which was the first industrial powder coating job shop in the area. The company has steadily grown over the years and what once was a small band of six employees, is now a company of 50, which still includes members of the original team.
PCS has continued to thrive over the years because the core group of employees are still involved, each bringing the same attention to detail they did back in 1981. Our team has applied quality coatings for a wide variety of industries.
- Beauty products
- Film equipment
- Fitness equipment
- Food & beverage
- Musical instruments
- … and more.
While the company has remained in the same location, the office and plant have expanded multiple times to keep up with demand. With four lines, accommodating various types of jobs, PCS continues to provide high quality powder coating finishes at the greatest capacity in the area. PCS serves Orange County, Los Angeles, the Inland Empire and the rest of California.
The original and largest line provides the flexibility to coat large or small parts. The mini-coater line efficiently coats smaller parts at a high volume. The specialized line is built to coat products that do not require pretreatment, such as glass. There is another line that is generally dedicated to one customer.
In 2016, PCS was acquired by Meridian General Capital, a private investment firm based in Los Angeles. This transaction has enabled the company to reach new levels of growth in this critical segment. The new Chairman of the company, Ravi Rao, announced that additional resources will be deployed to strengthen PCS’s position in its markets as well as invest in new processes such as Electrophoretic Deposition (EPD) and new turn-key solutions to expand its services to current and new customers. PCS’s new parent company is PCS Industrial Services, LLC and is currently offering these new services.
ISO Powder Coating
ISO is a management system designed to inform customers that a company is following certain standards of business practice. In order to earn the certificate, they must undergo an extensive audit in which it demonstrates that it meets those standards and documents its processes. PCS earned the highly-regarded ISO 9001:2008 certification in January 2003.
There has been an increased awareness of environmental impact over the years. Because of its sturdy coating and environmentally-friendly nature, powder coating has been steadily replacing painting and other plating processes. PCS is dedicated to “green” industrial powder coating practices.
